Worker safety for private companies in the state of New Jersey is regulated by the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). New Jersey operates a public sector only occupational safety and health program (PEOSH) under a plan approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. This program provides safety and health protections to state and local government employees within the state. In addition, many public agencies requires all workers on publicly funded construction sites in NJ to complete the OSHA 10 hour construction course.

OSHA Regulations and Standards
