OSHA 30 Hour Training

What Is OSHA 30 hour Training?

OSHA 30-hour Training

OSHA 30 hour training is available in four different formats via our company, OSHA Training Services Inc. Those are:

There are two primary OSHA 30-hour training courses that were developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The first is the OSHA 30-hour course for Construction (applies to building, renovating, and demolition of structures), and the second is the OSHA 30-hour course for General Industry (applies to most all other business sectors, including manufacturing, service and maintenance, hospitality industry, food manufacturing and service), oil and gas operations, refineries, warehouses, medical and dental . . .). If you are uncertain which OSHA training course is best suited for you, watch our short explainer video clip below for more information.

These two OSHA 30-hour courses are intended to provide advanced information needed to help foremen, supervisors, managers, superintendents, competent persons, safety staff, safety committee members, safety managers, and others with responsibility for monitoring workplace safety and implementing OSHA health and safety regulations that apply to their workplaces. The OSHA 30 hour training courses also provide the students with an extensive overview of how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) functions, and how to find the OSHA regulations that apply to your operations. There are no prerequisites required to take either one of the 30-hour training courses.

OSHA 30 hour training can be taken two different ways. Have our OSHA authorized trainer come to your site and conduct a OSHA 30 hour training class for your group of employees.  Or, you can take our OSHA authorized online OSHA 30 hour training courses. You get the exact same OSHA / DOL card for on site and online courses.

Is OSHA 30 Hour Training Mandatory?

Technically, the OSHA 30 hour courses are intended by OSHA to be voluntary courses. So OSHA usually does not make someone take a 30-hour course unless it is part of a formal agreement to settle OSHA citations. However, there are numerous cities (like NYC and Philadelphia) and states (like Nevada), that have passed specific laws making it mandatory for supervisors to have completed an OSHA 30-hour course to work at some job-sites.  And it is also not unusual for some private employers and government agencies (like the Veterans Administration) to make completion of an OSHA 30 hour training course mandatory to be on their site. Here is a list of mandatory 30 hour training required in NV and in Philadelphia:

OSHA 30 Hour Construction Training Requirements – State of Nevada Department of Industrial Relations

OSHA 30 Hour General Industry (Entertainment) Training Requirements – State of Nevada Department of Industrial Relations

OSHA 30 Hour Construction Training Requirements – City of Philadelphia PA Department of Licenses and Inspections

How Can I Receive OSHA 30 Hour Training?

You can take the OSHA 30 hour courses one of two different ways; First, you can have an OSHA-authorized Outreach Trainer come to your site and teach the class for your group. Or you can take one of the OSHA authorized online OSHA 30-hour courses (each individual student has their own course and can log in and out when they want to train). We only use 30-hour Outreach trainers authorized by The OSHA Office of Training and Education to conduct your on site 30-hour training class. The OSHA 30-training courses are conducted in a classroom setting (usually spread over four consecutive days). The OSHA authorized online OSHA 30 hour training courses for general industry and for construction are taken individually by a student at their own pace, and they are allowed to take up to six months to finish (although they can finish the online OSHA 30 hour courses in as few as 4 days).

Do Students Receive Any Materials When They Take an OSHA 30 Hour Training Course?

Each student attending one of oshatraining.com's live on-site OSHA 30 hour training classes will receive their own copy of the OSHA standards for either general industry (CFR 1910) or construction (CFR 1926) as part of their course materials. In addition to covering Federal OSHA regulations, our OSHA-authorized 30 hour instructors also address state-specific OSHA requirements, where applicable. Students taking the oshatraining.com online OSHA 30 hour course for either construction or general industry can download and print out a free PDF study guide to use as they take their online OSHA 30 hour course.

Do Students Get Any Type of OSHA Certification Form or Card When They Complete the OSHA 30 Hour Training Course?

When a student successfully completes OSHA 30 hour training (on site or online), they will receive the official DOL/OSHA 30 hour course wallet card for either construction or general industry. We also provide each student with a personalized OSHA 30 hour training certificates. The OSHA 30 hour wallet cards for our courses are accepted in all 50 states and the US territories - GUARANTEED!.

Does the OSHA 30-hour Card Expire?

The small print on the back of official OSHA 30 hour training course wallet cards issued to students completing authentic 30-hour training courses like ours explains that the wallet cards do not expire. That is because the courses are voluntary in OSHA's eyes. However, as mentioned above, it is certainly the prerogative of a State, municipality, private employer, or other government agency to make the course mandatory and set an expiration date for the OSHA 30-hour card to be valid per their own requirements. In those cases, a student would have to re-take the OSHA 30-hour course again (because there is no official "refresher" course).

I lost my OSHA 30 hour wallet card (or it got destroyed), so how can I get a replacement card?

The only person who can request a replacement card from OSHA for any student is the trainer who originally taught their OSHA 30-hour class, or the online OSHA 30-hour course provider who's course the student completed. Only your trainer or online OSHA 30 hour course provider can get you a replacement 30-hour OSHA card from OSHA.  Also, be aware that OSHA has a very strict policy that they will not grant requests for replacement cards if the 30-hour course was completed more than five (5) years ago. So if a student cannot locate their trainer or online company who issued their original OSHA 30 hour training wallet card, or if the card was issued more than five years ago, the student will have to re-take the OSHA 30-hour course. See more information about getting a replacement card here.

Are all OSHA 30-hour courses valid?

No. There are some unscrupulous trainers out there who fraudulently represent themselves as authorized OSHA 30-hour trainers. In addition, there are a few online OSHA 30-hour courses that have not been officially authorized by OSHA as valid. In either of those two cases, the OSHA 30 hour cards issued by these classes are not valid. Fraudulent trainers should be reported to the OSHA Training and Education Division. And you can rest assured that the OSHA 30-hour wallet cards issued for courses offered through our website are 100% authentic!
