Who Should take the Online OSHA 10-hour General industry Course?

The 10-hour Outreach training program for general industry was developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to provide workers with a general awareness of the types of hazards commonly found in general industry work sites. OSHA recommends the Outreach Training Program courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by the OSHA 29 CFR 1910 general industry standards. Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of the job; for example, information about site-specific policies and procedures as well as instruction on tools and equipment used on the job.

Although OSHA recommends this course for workers, it is not mandatory. However, there are many business owners, unions, and government agencies located throughout the United States that require workers to complete this 10-hour class to work at their facilities.
